HERNAN VIDAL URREA, current Director of VIDAL & ASTUDILLO, is an Electronic Engineer from the Universidad del Cauca, was linked to the NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMPANY - TELECOM - in Colombia, for 25 years, a period in which he worked in the areas of Instrumentation and of Card Repair.

In 1985, commissioned by the Vice Presidency of Operations, he implemented and coordinated the CARD REPAIR CENTER, whose function consisted of managing, controlling and repairing the printed circuit boards (PCBs) of the digital switching systems REAX-GTE, NEAX61 S / K / M-NEC, NEAX61E-NEC, FETEX-FUJITSU, System 1240 ALCATEL, AX-ERICSSON, JISCOS-JS, X-PLESSEY System, D2000-WE, of equipment of the COHERENT telegraph carrier system, I / O equipment of the KENNEDY and 3M brands and power equipment.

At the end of his term in June 2000, 25,000 cards had been repaired at a cost that for TELECOM represented “… a true source of deep and solid knowledge for the maintenance of the equipment acquired through different suppliers, which leads to an important reduction of the technological gap, in addition to autonomy with increasing quality, effectiveness and profits … “(Taken from NOT-ITEC magazine No. 17 April 1994)

The organization of the CARD REPAIR CENTER was supported, among others, by the following achievements:

• Information systematization.

• Development of test software for PCBs.

• Development of test modules for PCBs and expert systems through agreements with the Universidad del Cauca and the Universidad Javeriana.

In October 1992 Hernán Vidal Urrea was a speaker on “CONFORMATION OF A PHYSICAL SUPPORT CENTER FOR NEW TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT” at the IX NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS CONGRESS, held in Bogotá DC

In 1980 and 1984 Hernán Vidal Urrea carried out training courses in Tokyo Japan on the NEAX system and peripheral I / O equipment.
